2D grids...

(I haven't gotten anything from this list since September 1996 - has it been
 dead this whole time?)

I was wondering if there was any way in the netCDF standard to have a 2-d dim-
ension grid, ie, N "coordinates" each of which is a lat-lon pair, and then each
field is defined on that grid.

I looked over the list archives and didn't see anything recent...
