The Results of this weeks poll on the name for the newsgroup are:

Based on the fact that sci.data.formats was not on the list of names
to be voted on, I am grouping the votes for sci.dataformats and
sci.data.formats together. This gives sci.data.formats approximately
70% of the votes. The choice of sci.data.formats is a result of MANY
people who voted for sci.dataformats pointing out that the name
sci.data.formats would leave room for future expansion of the sci.data
hierarchy. Such things as sci.data.access, sci.data.models,
sci.data.formats.hdf, sci.data.formats.netcdf, sci.data.archives,
sci.data.databases, sci.data.distribution, and more were suggested.
However, the CFV is STRICTLY for sci.data.formats, and should appear
very soon. Others who want to tackle some of these suggestions are
encouraged to do so!
