My guess is that it has nothing to do with GEMPAK.  Even Linux isn't
going to lock up that regularly because of a script.  Certainly going
back and commenting out scripts one by one makes sense, but I suspect it
is either a buggy driver, or at this point it does sound like it could
be hardware.
