Ruth,

the gribtonc program is being deprecated for Java Grib libraries. The libraries 
can 
translate both Grib1 and Grib2 into netCDF using the CF conventions. I included 
a
url to a previous message that tells the process of downloading the jar files 
and how to
convert to netCDF.
