Nice summary!
Just like to add something to the proposal. You assumed that the
bands/channels always differ by their wavelength. While that might be the
case in most cases, this is not necessarily the case. I am working with
multi-band SAR data and those bands do not differ by their wavelength but
their polarization. It would be nice if we could cover this in the proposal
as well. I can't imagine there would be too much of a problem with adding
another standard name and coordinate axis type for polarization.
I personally think that the dimensional approach to bands makes more sense
but even the alternative would be a step into the right direction.
